My thoughts on this exist in the fact that that is an infringement of freedom of expression. The true iss is not that boxer shorts may be exposed, since saying going out in boxer shorts is a very slim indecent exposure charge. The legislators are going after the clothing style, which I may add that I don’t like, but I don’t think should be made illegal.
The first thing I would do if I was going to fight this charge in protest would be to start wearing a bathing suit instead of boxers – since it is not indecent in our culture at all to go out in a bathing suit. There is no way they could charge you under the indecency side of this coin if you could wear the same outfit sans pants. Unfortunately I have a feeling that most people are not going to fight this.
I would not go out of my way to change my apparel just to protest this action, but let’s say I could give points for the finer points around this law that the law makers would have alot of justifying and explaining to do.
