Tra­di­tional marches, I’m not a fan.  Iron­i­cally when I was in march­ing band we didn’t play many tra­di­tional Sousa Era marches, and those that we did play I loathed.   When I joined com­mu­nity band how­ever we have played a ton of tra­di­tional marches.   I wouldn’t com­plain to much but most of the music was writ­ten before my grand­par­ents were born, I can under­stand play­ing some of the tra­di­tional Sousa marches that every­one rec­og­nizes, but hte more eso­teric ones that don’t get played as much?  Well there really is a rea­son they don’t get played as much.
